Line-up announced for August Western Canada Sports Collectors Convention



Two members of the Hockey Hall of Fame are among the scheduled guests as the Western Canada Sports Collectors Convention holds its first-ever summer show at Langley Events Centre.


Bernie Parent and Pierre Turgeon will be signing autographs August 10 and 11. They are joined by Sylvain Turgeon, Dave ‘Tiger’ Williams and Arshdeep Bains.


The Western Canada Sports Collectors Convention has previously held a biannual show (April and November) at Langley Events Centre and has proven so popular, it is expanding into the summer months.


“We are thrilled to be adding a third show here at Langley Events Centre. We have lined up an incredible array of memorabilia from all eras and this promises to be an unforgettable experience with the chance to add that one-of-a-kind item to your collection,” said Dale Novakowski, show organizer and owner of Bossa Shows.


The show runs Saturday, August 11 from 11:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday, August 12 from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Tickets are $20 for the first day and $10 for the second. Anyone ages 10 and under receives free admission to the show and autograph tickets to meet the guests are sold separately.

The Western Canada Sports Collectors Convention also features more than 200 vendor tables with collectibles dealers and retail merchandise available from all eras as well as corporate participation from authentication companies JSA, PSA, MNT, KSA along with Upper Deck, Heritage Auctions, COMC, Zephyr Epic and more.

Bernie Parent

Bernie Parent played 14 seasons in the NHL from 1965 to 1979 and is most known for his time with the Philadelphia Flyers, helping them win back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975, winning both the Vezina Trophy as the league’s top goalie and the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable players of the Stanley Cup playoffs. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984.


Pierre Turgeon

A junior scoring star in Quebec, Turgeon was the first overall pick in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres and played 19 seasons in the league for six different teams. In total, Turgeon played 1,294 regular season games with 515 goals and 1,327 points with another 35 goals and 97 points in 109 playoff games. He was a 2023 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee.


Sylvain Turgeon

A second overall pick by the Hartford Whalers in 1983, Turgeon played twelve seasons in the NHL for four teams, scoring 269 goals and 495 points in 669 regular season games. He is also the older brother of Pierre Turgeon.


Dave ‘Tiger’ Williams

The all-time NHL leader in penalty minutes – amassing 3,966 minutes in 962 games – Dave ‘Tiger’ Williams was a fan favourite throughout his 15-year career which featured stops in Toronto, Vancouver, Detroit, Los Angeles and Hartford.


Arshdeep Bains

A Surrey native, Arshdeep Bains joined the Vancouver Canucks organization following a stellar career in the Western Hockey League as a free agent. The 23-year-old was nearly a point-per-game player in 2023-24 in the American Hockey League with 55 points in 59 games for the Abbotsford Canucks and he also played eight games for Vancouver this past year, becoming just the fourth player of South Asian descent to play in the NHL.
