Langley Events Centre to Host Third Annual TBI Tournament
Nov 27, 2014
The Langley Events Centre (LEC) is pleased to host the third annual Tsumura Basketball Invitational (TBI) tournament from December 5-7. This year, the tournament features sixteen teams, its most ever, including eight boys teams and eight girls teams.
“We are excited about the expanded BC High School format for this year’s edition of the TBI,” said LEC Director of Business Development Jared Harman. “We look forward to continuing to build this event into a traditional kick-off event for the high school basketball season.”
“Heading into our third year, it's so exciting to have the TBI begin to welcome a larger cross section of our incredible B.C. high school basketball community,” said Howard Tsumura. “The teams we will be hosting this season represent such incredible past traditions, both in their communities and throughout the province.”
The sixteen teams taking part in this year’s tournament are:
|Holy Cross||Fleetwood Park|
|Little Flower Academy||Handsworth|
|Oak Bay||North Surrey|
|St Thomas More||Tamanawis|
The past two years on the girls sides have seen the events first and second place teams compete against one another (2013 – Oak Bay vs. Brookswood, 2012 – South Kamloops vs. Brookswood) and then do the same at the Provincial Championships at the end of the season. The year before was Walnut Grove versus White Rock Christian Academy at the TBI and then again for a Provincial Championship at the LEC in March.
